SOULFUL, PASSIONATE and ENGAGING, Evyn Charles delivers superb vocals and expert guitar & violin music with his extensive repertoire of cover songs and originals.
His Soulful Beach Groove style is prized at Disney Hotels, the Ritz-Carlton and Terranea Resort along with venues ranging from neighborhood restaurants and yacht clubs to festivals, weddings and events. An outstanding solo performer, Evyn also has great partners in his band A La Plage. Growing up in an international family outside Paris, France, the bilingual multi-instrumentalist and vocalist was immersed in the sounds of the world. He played violin in a classical orchestra, bass in a Reggae band, and has never stopped singing… Right out of high-school, he played music at Club Med resorts then obtained an outstanding musical education at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. Following in the footsteps of Van Morrison, Bob Marley and Eva Cassidy, he combines infectious party songs with heart-tugging numbers. His prodigious repertoire covers practically every genre and era, or as he likes to explain “I play songs that people like.” A typical performance will travel from Sinatra to Surf guitar, Kenny Chesney to Foo Fighters, with a side trip in his native French and some Irish favorites! SOULFUL BEACH GROOVE—Evyn's trademark style is a fun, laid-back, and tuneful interpretation of Pop and Rock favorites. COUNTRY—Country music is a treasure trove of great songs. A "song guy" first and foremost, Evyn has perfected an awesome repertoire of popular contemporary hits by the likes of Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown, and Blake Shelton, along with timeless classics from George Strait, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash! STANDARDS & JAZZ—Classics from the Great American Songbook by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, and contemporary crooners like Josh Groban, Harry Connick and Michael Bublé.Evyn attended Berklee College of Music, where countless renowned Jazz artists have been trained. He has performed at events for Smooth Jazz radio station 94.7FM The Wave. REGGAE, DANCE and SOUL—Timeless gems by Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson to Alicia Keys, Sade and Sting. Evyn started his professional musical career as a back up musician for dance and R&B Soul bands. FAVORITE FRENCH SONGS—Born and raised in France until age 17, the bilingual "Monsieur Evyn" presents a charmingly authentic Chanson experience! He is also an accomplished French voice-over artist and studio singer. IRISH MUSIC—Evyn toured and performed with musicians from Dublin, Ireland. Part of his family is from the Celtic Bretagne region of France, where he spent much of his childhood. Those experiences left him with a deep appreciation for the music, along with a sizable repertoire. INSTRUMENTALS—from Classical to Pop, sometimes the perfect soundtrack needs no words.
